Arrows finish third in tourney

BRATTLEBORO -- The ESDAA Div. II girls basketball tournament finished up its three days of action on Saturday.

The Austine girls squad had their highest finish in 14 years, ending the tournament with a solid third place, beating Rochester School for the Deaf, 30-25.

The Arrows put forth a quality effort, as they played the entire tournament with just five players. Austine took a 12-10 lead into intermission and outscored Rochester 18-15 in the second half.

Audree Connelly played a nice game, scoring six points and grabbing an impressive 11 rebounds. Jennifer Harbart also played well, scoring eight points, six of which came in the final quarter. Harbart was also the first Arrow to be named to the 1st team All-Star tournament squad.

The tournament marked the end of the Arrows season, who finished with a 10-7 record.

In the Championship game, No. 1 seed Delaware squared off against No.2 seed West Virginia. Delaware took home the first-place trophy with a 42-24 win. Dante Hudson led Delaware to the hardware, scoring a team-high 18 points.

In the consolation matchup, 47 A&E defeated Millnick Manor, 29-20.

In the tournament's 7th-place game, St. Mary's defeated Scranton 43-33.
