By STEPHANIE MILLER JEFFERSONVILLE — An elderly hearing-impaired Twiggs County man was killed after he was hit by a train Friday as he walked on the railroad tracks near his home. According to reports of the Dublin Post of the Georgia State Patrol, Louis Crockett, 68, of Jeffersonville, was walking down the railroad tracks on his way home from the grocery store when he was struck from behind by a Georgia Central train. “He never even knew it was coming up behind him,” said the GSP spokeswoman. The spokeswoman said Crockett was hearing impaired but regularly used the tracks as a route to and from Jeffersonville from his home. “He walked that way to pick up aluminum cans,” said the spokeswoman. The accident happened about one-half mile east of Jeffersonville on the Georgia Central Railway.
