AT&T Relay Services announces a trial of Video Relay Service

In response to strong consumer demand, AT&T Relay Services will soon be offering Video Relay Service nationwide. Now ASL customers can sign directly to an interpreter over a web cam for optimum speed, accuracy and convenience in relay calling. To provide relay users with the highest quality service possible you and anyone else you know are invited to participate in our trial, beginning Dec. 15 2002. All you need to do is use our service as much as you like during the trial period and give us your feedback on the survey form attached below. Specifics include:

Start Date: December 15,2002 - trial to run 4 weeks

Hours: Monday through Friday, from 8:00 A.M – 10 P.M
The trial is closed on weekends and holidays

Minimum Technical Requirements:
500 MHz or higher processor
133 MHz or higher system bus
500 MHz system bus (recommended)
Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP (Windows NT not recommended)
64 MB or higher RAM
SVGA monitor (800 X 600)
16 bit color or higher
16 MB or higher video memory (VGA Card) or 2.0 USB port
6 MB free hard disk space
Broadband IP network access
Cable, DSL, LAN, T1 or higher broadband connection required
128 kbps or higher on upload and download.
Microsoft Internet Explorer ®6.0 Free download from to get Explorer update.
Logitech ProCam 3000 or equal quality web camera.

Limitations: Customers can call to any number within the United States and its territories at no cost. No calls to international points or to 900 pay-per-call service.

Additional Information: During the trial period, we will allow VRS users to download a free software package that will enhance their call experience. The software will be wizard driven and easy to load and operate.
