The Dorchester County Sheriff's office is participating in a statewide campaign to educate drivers who are deaf or hard of hearing, on the procedures for responding during a routine traffic stop.

Available through the sheriff's office throughout the state, laminated car visor cards state Driver is Deaf. Upon seeing the card, an officer will know the driver has a hearing impairment and be better prepared to deal with a potential communication challenges. To obtain a card call (410) 228-4141 or visit the Sheriff's office on Fieldcrest Road.
