WINTER fashions are due to be paraded on the catwalk in Ipswich to raise money for a cancer network and for young people and women on the Indian subcontinent.

Clothes from Monsoon will be on display at the Winter Spice Fashion Evening being held at Christchurch Mansion on Monday.

People of all shapes and sizes will be modelling the clothes and the money raised will be split between the Ipswich Cancer Aid Network (ICAN) and The Monsoon Trust.

ICAN is an Ipswich organisation set up by people with cancer for people with cancer.

It offers support to men and women, young and old suffering from any type of the disease.

Although it is not yet a registered charity, charitable status has been applied for and around 20 sufferers are benefiting from the work they are doing at the moment.

The Monsoon Trust is a charity that was set up to provide educational opportunities for children, young people and women in the Indian Subcontinent.

It has been involved in several schools such as the Monsoon Anubodh School which teaches deaf and mute children.

Julia Pike is one of the founder members of the ICAN charity.

She said: "People modelling the clothes are from all walks of life so no-one will feel inhibited.

"Four members of ICAN are also doing the modelling.

"It should be a lovely evening – we want to make it very special and there will also be a champagne reception."

Clothes will be available for children as well as adults and accessories will also be on show.

The fashion show will be held in the Wolsey Gallery of Christchurch Mansion and doors open at 6.45pm on Wednesday .

Tickets cost £25 each and are available from Monsoon, 33 Westgate Street, Ipswich.
