NEW PUBLICATION L.A. WAVES TO SERVE DEAF,

LOS ANGELES, CA. Oct. 15, 2002 -- Willard Publications has announced plans to 
launch a new publication for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community in the 
Los Angeles area called "L.A. Waves."
This newsmagazine, to be published every two months, will offer local 
organizations and businesses a place to publicize their programs, services 
and events.  Designed to provide an open forum for the deaf and 
hard-of-hearing community, L.A. Waves is an ideal place to announce upcoming 
events and other news from businesses and organizations.  
The first issue (November/December 2002) will be available at the Deaf Expo.  
Editorial submissions are welcome.  L.A. Waves is looking for news releases, 
calendar listings, feature articles, regular columns and other items; and 
needs materials from all segments of the community:  interpreters, 
captioning, religion, technology, sports and more.
Advertisers are also needed to make this publication possible.  Organizations 
and businesses are invited to advertise on a regular basis and may place ads 
to announce special programs and events.  Employment and classified ads will 
also be available.
The deadline to submit news and place advertising in the first issue is 
November 1.  The following deadline is Dec. 15 for the January/February 2003 
edition.
L.A. Waves is published by Willard Publications, a deaf-owned business based 
in Los Angeles.  Publisher/Editor Tom Willard was editor of the GLAD NEWS the 
past two years and has also served as editor of Newswaves and Silent News.  
In addition, he founded Deaf Artists of America, Inc. and served as executive 
director for 10 years.
Subscription rates for L.A. Waves are $15 for one year, $25 for two years.
