Sign language certificate
MUNCIE - Ivy Tech State College now offers a Career Development Certificate in Sign Language.

The Career Development Certificate can be used to develop skills in signing and to enhance a person's role in his current profession, but it is not equivalent to certification as an interpreter.

The certificate consists of Sign Language I, II, III, IV and V. The first portion consists of basic sign language wherein the student learns the ABC's of signing. Sign Language II and III, taken only after the first course is completed, involve more detailed information including full sentences, paragraphs, and longer pieces of language.

Sign Language IV and V give the student ample opportunity to put the skills learned previously into real life practice.
